I have been looking for a cost effective cloud host to act as an image server for our cloudcitysites websites for some time now and although this is early days for us I have found Unlimited Web Hosting UK to be truly helpfull and extremely responsive to our very demanding requests for some highly technical requirements.

With an extremely affordable, simple and fixed monthly fee I find that Unlimited Web Hosting UK are an extremely viable alternative to other cloud hosting offerings from likes of Amazon S3.

It’s fantastic that a U.K. based organisation can offer such a superb service that is truly unlimited and does exactly what it sais on the tin.

Features I’d like to see include a Ruby on Rails gem to complement Paperclip and allow simple integration for hosting image files externally to a Rails application. With this in place I have a feeling that Unlimited Web Hosting UK will fast become very popular with the Rails community.

After initially signing up to another host which I then decided wasn’t suitable for me, the Unlimited guys were really helpful in getting me up and running on their system, and transferring my domains across. They even set me up a demo account so I could familiarise myself with Plesk before I signed up.

The customer support is great, on the one instance there hasn’t been anyone available via Live Chat, they responded to my email within about 30mins.

Price- and feature-wise they are the best I’ve found.

I have been with another host for the past 5 years, and had enough of there bad customer support & constant downtime.

I can only confirm what other people already said. Domain registration + hosting setup takes something like 5 minutes. Amazing. Superb assistance too (email, ticket). Live chat is mostly turned off but don’t worry. they answer email/tickets on Sunday too.

Finally… a provider I can be proud of!

I initially made an enquiry about installing piece of software on the server, and was unsure about it.

I asked them a question about it, and was shocked as they emailed me back within 5 mins!!! They sure work fast.

What a great company!

The support has been superb and the service provided has been very good value for money.

The people at unlimited ate knowledgeable, courteous, helpful, and available at short notice to solve problems. Aside from this they are generally interested in the technology behind the services that they offer, and the processes they seem to employ to manage upgrades etc. are top drawer.

I have not used their email facility as I use Google, but I fully endorse their web hosting.

What an absolute joke of a hosting company.

They told us the down time was because our site was being attacked! Problem was when our server went down every other site on the cloud was taken out as well. So I’m not sure how they are getting all these great reviews and they are certainly not providing 99% uptime.

Stay away from these guys, they don’t know what there doing.

I’ve noticed the downtime too (35 minutes) and asked what happened. As usual, UWH staff answered my questions and doubts in few minutes.

They could not be perfect but the staff is amazing. Also, keep in mind the price. Where others ask 50-100 per month, they ask less than 3. And for that price, imho they are unbeatable.

Note: in the last 11 years I still have to remember a single company that offers a “real” 100% uptime.

Using the reseller package. On the plus site, it has a good performance.

On the negative site:
- The Plesk panel, it’s a nightmare to use compared to cPanel
- No IP-address based access to the website possible
therefore transfering existing domains are difficult to do
- Frequent Internal Server Error messages because it won’t
accept out standard SEO-friendly URL rewrite rules from the .htaccess
- Incomplete online help files

I’ve been hosting with these guys for about a year now, and I’m absolutely delighted with the level of service they provide.

I’ve been with more web hosts than I can count over the last 7-8 years, and I’ve seen everything I possibly could. Never have I been so happy with a web host. They do something really unusual in the industry: deliver what they promise! They answer their phones at all hours, they respond to tickets in minutes rather than hours, their uptime is exactly as promised, and their unlimited policy really is without the restrictions you’ll see elsewhere.

I started about a year ago with their shared plan and since upgraded twice, through their reseller plan and now to their VPS plan. They’ve been extremely helpful at every step of the game, and will do anything they can to make what I need happen. They don’t even charge for dedicated IPs, which is a major bonus for me!

I wish I’d have found these guys years ago. I can’t recommend them highly enough - and I’m picky!

I have only been with unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk for about a month. So far they are excellent.

My previous hosting company went out of business and I had to transfer quickly. I conducted a fairly detailed review of a large number of companies. All of them had a number of poor reviews. Some companies indicated that my website should be on a dedicated server ( at a very high monthly cost.)
I selected “Unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk” because, although there are not a lot of reviews on them, all of the reviews are good.(5*)

I was concerned about transferring my website. However the transfer was simple and efficient. I initiated the transfer in 1 hour on a friday evening and transferred the files in 1- hour on a Saturday Morning. I sent an email because I was a bit nervous - The reasuring response came back within 10 minutes.

The control panel is very easy to follow.

I have had no problems at all and the monthly cost is very low. (Most of the hosting companies ask for 12 months in advance.) As the cost is low and you pay only 1 month in advance there is minimum risk .

I can’t recommend them highly enough

I’ve been hosted by Unlimited Webhosting for 8 months now.

I need unlimited hosting for 9 different domains so at around £3 a month, UWH is fantastic value for money.

I had only used the cPanel hosting control panel before, so it took a while to get used to Plesk. To be honest though, I don’t understand why UWH insist on using it. cPanel is just a far superior control panel with more features than Plesk. There are many things that cPanel allows you to do in just a few clicks that are more complex to achieve in Plesk or aren’t possible to do at all.

Also, UWH’s downtime can be annoying at times. Being hosted on a cloud platform, I expect minimal downtime, but I do accept that some downtime is inevitable. However, there have been quite a few times that my UWH sites have been down.

UWH blame attacks on their routers and other network hardware as the cause of sites being unavailable (not actually server outages), but as a customer I don’t really care why downtime happens. I just care that it does. UWH take service outages seriously, though. They email you explaining why it happened and what they’re doing to prevent it happening again.

I have to say that UWH has THE best customer service of any online business I have ever dealt with. I could pretty much bet my life on the fact that I will receive a reply from UWH within minutes of submitting a ticket to them (even if it is 3 o’clock in the morning or a bank holiday). It’s not just the speed of reply either, it’s the quality of the support they provide. Other hosting companies make you pay extra for premium support, but with UWH it comes as standard. In this country we have a bad reputation for service, but UWH’s customer server is great.

The monthly price you see on the homepage of the UWH website is actually the price you will pay every month (plus VAT) for your hosting. Other hosting companies entice you with a low monthly price on their website, but when you get to the checkout you realise you actually need to pay for your hosting yearly to receive the lowest rate. UWH don’t play such tricks; it’s nice to know where you stand.

It’s nice that UWH is a UK hosting company as well. I usually think of UK hosts as being expensive, but UWH is anything but.

What can I say - faultless! I host a large number of websites on various hosting accounts and the experience with this company is excellent. Plesk is the only minor (and I mean minor) downside, but once you get used to it it’s easy to ignore.

I asked Unlimited Webhosts before I joined them can you handle a site like mine. Which is a mod makers website that hosts my own mods and has a forum with perhaps 10 to 15 users on at all time. Not a site that should strain most webhosts and they said yes.

The moment I tried to move my website across to them, they made a mistake with the DNS so it kept switching back and forth to my old host, causing the site to go down ever few hours. After about a week they fixed it.

Then as the performance started to drop or the site went down due to activity, I was given advice that sounded good by the support team but only worked for a day or so, before the problems of poor performance and down time returned.

Looking at their 99.9999% uptime claims and looking at my 404 site not found error because my site hosted on their service was down on a regular basis, and looking at all the glowing reviews for this company, I started to smell a rat.

After a while I found all the tweaks they told me to make to my site to improve things basically caused my visitor numbers to drop off. After 3 months on Unlimited webhost, my site was fast approaching critical and my visitor numbers where half what they should have been.

In the end I left Unlimited webhosts and returned to my old hosts and have spent the last few months trying to restore the sites activity levels back to what they where before I moved to Unlimited Webhosts.

It is true that the support is fast and helpful, that is something they do well, but given how many problems exist with this host and given that none of their solutions offered seem to work for long. I would not count that as a good thing, it is a brush off, a way of patching over their companies failures.

Sorry but I cannot recommend this company to anything except people hosting a tiny site for them selves and a few friends. Unlimited webhosts struggled to host my site and keep it running and my site is hardly a big one.
