I signed up for the 14 day trial without paying anything so i could test drive there servers for a personal website i own.

There was problem after problem.

1) My domain was updated within just hours and the website was showing fine, every few hours for several days it kept switching back to my parked domain name page. The DNS updated as i done a DNS lookup online and there was definately an issue with pick a web not the dns.

2) Once it seemed to have worked a day later same thing happened again. I spoke to there live support about 15 times within 5 days on a range of problems.

3) My website was playing up, i develop in php, mysql and kept getting loads of strange errors that i never encountered on any servers i have used previously. On further inspection i noticed they had register_globals on! this is something that should not be turned on and is recommended to be off for security purposes. So i asked could i create my own php.ini file and said yes it took about 20 minutes for them to reply in live chat to tell me this.

4) I configured the php.ini file to my own liking as there servers are setup with majour security concerns. On doing so my website was acting correctly, but not i had a mail problem, mails was showing from the server name not from the from email. Again i always program my scripts to use the from email i want yet it kept showing server name in the from field when receiving emails from my website. Again contacted there support and they said “because your on shared hosting it will” i laughed as this is total rubbish as i know, so then i said there servers must be setup wrong in someone way. Basically they argued with me for about 30 minutes saying it was my php script althou i know it wasn’t.

There live support takes ages to reply back as they seem to have to research what you ask them themselves and you are left waiting in live chat for lenghtly time until they reply.

I had many more problems to. I could rarely access my cpanel via temporary url and when dns updated still could not access it.

I could not access via FTP, i think i managed about 8 times in 5 days, each time i had to speak to them in live support, first they told me it was a server glitch then each other time it happened they said they had to reset the connections as there was to many connections. Again this is hidious, i could barely connect yet they said there was to many connections open. Only myself manage my website.

The list goes on..

If you want a host that is clueless, does not care, servers are poor, there servers are setup incorrectly and has majour security concerns then go ahead and use them else don’t bother!

I honestly cannot say in words how bad they was. Within 5 days i cancelled my free trial and went to another host. I could not bare another day of problems due to there servers, having to speak in live chat every hour or so and wanted a host that was on the same level as me and understood me.

There staff just does not have a clue about web hosting.

I strongly recommend not going with them, there price is cheap but not worth it when you consider the problems you will likely experience.

I have had excellent service from Pickaweb who assisted me each time I had a query about my website and publishing it to their server.

I am rather a computer novice but every query was answered promptly to my satisfaction - indeed on a couple of occasions Pickaweb did the work for me.

I have been using Pickaweb for years and years now and have had no trouble with them at all. My family site and two businesses are up with their servers - there is never any downtime. The support is always answered quickly and competantly.

I have gone for the 3 quid a month option and it provides all my needs from databases, email addresses, cpanel with cron jobs and private folders etc. I would (and have) thoroughly recommend them.

I have to agree with the first review. Pickaweb and their ’support’ have left me infuriated.It’s like talking to a car mechanic if you don’t know about cars.Utterly dreadful.

To give you just one example from literally dozens- I had forgotten my pass word to get into my web mail. They sent me my password which didn’t work. It took me days to find out that they had previously blocked the password, because I had tried to get into the site. They then gave me a temp password which didn’t work. Once in it’s soooo difficult to navigate to where you want to be. It really doesn’t help that at the bottom of ever email, is ‘Why not like us on Facebook?’

Why not? because you are *^6$~~# !!!

I am the webmaster for DJB Electrical Services in the UK. Due to a bad FTP log in, my IP address was blocked. I am located overseas and was able to contact Pick a Web through Online Chat. I had everything sorted within minutes, which was fantastic as I can now load the files for the website. Excellent Service and highly recommend them!

Whilst being an experienced, albeit old-fashioned programmer with enough knowledge to create useful php/mysql applications, I must comment about the excellent support that I have just received from the Pickaweb help-desk. All the wierd world of DNS setting for an additional domain name were well explained and I was led through a process by a polite, friendly and constructive exchange of emails.

I can now get on with the main job of producing a web-site for my son.

Friendly bunch of people running a reliable server. I found the ticketing system for support slightly confusing at first - and I had a glitch with a purchase - unscrambled by accounts. Our club sends bulk email newsletters to its members. I got a friendly reasonable request to buy a single IP. I did that - and my mail server hitched to my IP at a time that suited me. Nice.

I have been with Pickaweb for 10 years. In that time I have rarely had any issues. When I have they have been sorted fairly quickly by using the online chat.
Recently I have had some major issues arising with one of my websites. That has taken a little longer to sort out. It turns out that the issue has been to do with some of the websites on the shared server using up too many resources. That has now been sorted out and problem solved.

Generally, I cannot really fault them.

I’ve been with Pickaweb for 3 months and have been very pleased with their service. I bought one of their reseller hosting packages and have also used them for domains in this time. Whenever I’ve needed to contact support they have been quick in getting back to me and have always solved any problems. I particularly like the ability to chat online to someone from support - only rarely has there been no-one available to chat. If there is no-one available then you can also submit your ticket and they get back to you quickly. Although their domains are a little more expensive than 123Reg (who I’ve used in the past) I prefer having my domains and hosting from the same provider. The value for money hosting is incredible. With 123Reg I used to pay almost £50 for 2 years hosting per site but with Pickaweb I pay approx £120 to host as many sites as I like per year! I can’t fault them on price. I like using cpanel too and their webmail is easy to use. All in all I’m a happy customer and recommend them :-)

So far I can’t fine any negative issues with Pickaweb. I had a problem with a website that I use within the school for room bookings. After logging a support call the guys had the problem sorted out within 10-15 Mins.

As an Senior ICT Technician I consider that to be excellent service.
